IDRA to Present Third Action4Good International Conference, “Creating Resilient Solutions to Water Needs”

BOSTON, May 4, 2019 – The International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) will present its third Action4Good International Conference, May 12-14, 2019 in Santa Margherita, Italy. With its theme, “Creating Resilient Solutions to Water Needs,” the conference will address critical energy and environmental issues and examining the role of desalination and advanced water treatment in making a more sustainable world. The conference will take place at the Grand Miramare Hotel, located on the beautiful Corniche of Santa Margherita Portofino, Italy.

The conference is held under the patronage of the City of Genoa and was developed in cooperation with the Rotary Club of La Spezia and Lunigiana as well as the IDRA Sustainable Water Resources Foundation (SWRF). With the support of IDRA’s Affiliates including the European Desalination Society and cooperation agreements with such organizations as the UN FAO, Global Clean Water Desalination Alliance, and the Global Solar Council, the conference technical program will focus on energy and environmental issues related to desalination and water reuse projects.

Topics will include the Water-Energy-Food nexus, non-conventional means of supplying water, the use of renewable energy, and other innovative technologies. The program will highlight the increasing necessity for these solutions and demonstrate how they will enable the world to provide for the economic, societal and other needs of future generations.

“This conference follows a long and successful history of IDRA Action4Good events focused on social responsibility. IDRA supports an H20-C02 target and advocates the critical role that energy efficiency, renewable energy and minimization of environmental impact in desalination and water reuse systems play in achieving this goal. We thank all our partners, sponsors, supporters and members of the Technical Program Committee for their generous contributions to ensure that growth in the desalination and water reuse industry goes hand-in-hand with social responsibility,” said Shannon McCarthy, IDRA Secretary General.
