The 2019 IDRA World Congress to Offer Outstanding Opportunities for Insights and Interaction
  • International Desalination and Reuse Association’s Flagship Event Returns to Dubai with Robust Technical Program, Exhibition and New Features

BOSTON, May 29, 2019 – The 2019 IDRA World Congress: Crossroads to Sustainability is set to take place October 20-24 in Dubai, and expectations are high that this edition of the International Desalination and Reuse Association’s flagship event will set new standards in knowledge-sharing and interaction among stakeholders representing all sectors of advanced water treatment around the world.

Widely recognized as the premier global event on advanced water treatment solutions, specifically desalination and water reuse, the IDRA World Congress is expected to be attended by more than 1,500 delegates from the public and private sectors of the industry around the world.

The Congress will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the UAE’s leading event venue and the region’s largest event and exhibition center. It will be hosted by the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), backed by the full support of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA’s Managing Director & CEO, and his team. This will be the second IDRA World Congress to be held in Dubai during the past 10 years.

“The IDRA World Congress provides an ideal opportunity to take advantage of the forecasted growth in desalination and advanced water treatment. Predictions are that 2019 will see the most active growth in seawater desalination since the late 2000s, while water reuse has become an increasingly important part of water resources management around the world. We’ve designed this event as a venue not only to gain knowledge, but also to exchange perspectives, network and make valuable connections, with several new features that encourage dialogue and interaction including the introduction of a Leaders Summit and IDRA-Affiliate Discussion Forums,” said Shannon McCarthy, IDRA Secretary General.

The centerpiece of the Congress is its robust, four-day Technical Program that covers all aspects of desalination and water reuse as solutions to ensure the sustainability of the world’s water resources. With more than 300 papers among 10 technical topics, the Technical Program will explore a broad range of desalination and water reuse technologies, practices and experiences from around the world, recognizing that resources and requirements can vary based on location, climate conditions and natural resources.

The global World Congress Exhibition brings together public utilities with technology, systems and services providers from all corners of the world. Located in the center of World Congress activities, the Exhibition is adjacent to the technical sessions, plenary theater, Majlis Dialogue Hall and lunch area to ensure easy access.

Debuting at the 2019 World Congress are the IDRA Leaders Summit, held in parallel with the Technical Program, and the IDRA-Affiliate Majlis Discussion Forums, designed to spark dialogue with IDRA’s affiliate organizations. The Leaders Summit consists of a Leaders with Community session open to all conference delegates on the afternoon of Monday, October 21 and a Leaders with Leaders one-day, invitation-only program Tuesday, October 22. This Summit provides the opportunity for high-level interaction with some of the world’s foremost individuals in desalination and water reuse.

The IDR-Affiliate Majlis Forums provide an opportunity for IDRA’s affiliates to explore what is going on in the water sector regionally and showcase important game-changing projects or technologies in which their members are involved. They take place on Wednesday, October 23 through Thursday, October 24 during the general program and are open to all registered delegates.

Known for its outstanding networking opportunities, IDRA World Congress will hold “Crossroads to the Greens,” IDRA Corporate Golf Day, on the championship Majlis course at the world-famous Emirates Golf Club and the venue for the Dubai Desert Classic.

Rounding out the program are a plant tour, Gala Dinner, expanded Awards Program, and opportunities for continued learning.

Online registration is now open, with discounted rates for IDRA members. For more information about the 2019 World Congress and to register, visit https://wc.idadesal.org.
