5,000+ Orange County Students to Engage in Hands-On Activities during Nation’s Largest Water Education Festival

WHAT: The Children’s Water Education Festival, the nation’s largest event of its kind, is a free field trip for Orange County’s third, fourth and fifth grade students where they engage in hands-on activities that correspond with Next Generation Science Standards and STEAM/STEM education and learn about water, wildlife, science, the environment and more. Hosted by the Orange County Water District (OCWD), it is a two-day event that has educated more than 147,000 students since its inception.

WHO: 5,000+ students registered from 70 schools representing 23 cities throughout OC who will be accompanied by 630 teachers and parents and 300+ volunteers 60+ educational presentations and activities supported by more than 250 professionals from local cities, statewide water agencies and renowned organizations such as Disneyland Resort, Wild Rivers, Tanaka Farms, Pacific Marine Mammal Center, Chapman University, UC Irvine, Ocean Institute, and the CA Department of Water Resources

WHEN: Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: University of California, Irvine (UCI) – Aldrich Park

  • Interviews: Many prestigious organizations and individuals are a part of this event. Interviews are welcomed and may be arranged in advance or on-site.
  • Photo Ops: The best time to take photos of students learning through hands-on activities is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
