A high-level delegation from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) led by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of DEWA, met with Richard Katz, President of the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners, and Janisse Quiñones, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), in Los Angeles, California, USA. The DEWA delegation was received by senior government officials from California, including Bob Hertzberg, a former California State Senator and currently a Senior Advisor to Mission Possible Partnership, Ted Bardacke the Chief Executive Officer of Clean Power Alliance, the electricity provider for 33 cities and more than one million customers across Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, Arnab Pal, a senior advisor to the United States Department of Energy (DOE). David Abel, Chairman and Managing Director of VerdeXchange, LLC, a leading environmental think tank and clean technology advocate attended the meeting. Representatives from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a prominent research organization dedicated to advancing reliable, affordable, and resilient energy systems, were also in attendance.
The meeting focused on knowledge sharing and exchanging best practices in sustainable energy, water management, and future-oriented technological advancements.
HE Al Tayer was joined by Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence; Marwan bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future; Loh Lim Huat, Chief Advisor of Generation; Ghanim Al Qassim, Senior Manager of Solar Energy; and Humaid Al Hammadi, Senior Manager of Special Projects, at DEWA.
Discussions centered on global best practices and the latest technological innovations in energy and water management. Topics included renewable energy integration, energy storage, sustainability in water resources, and the development of infrastructure that supports both cities’ ambitions toward a greener, more resilient future. DEWA and LADWP explored ways to strengthen collaboration, paving the way for impactful initiatives that align with both organizations’ sustainable energy and water management objectives.
