Milan, May 10, 2024 – It is the largest Italian project of the last decade in the water treatment sector, and it will be built by a consortium led by Fisia Italimpianti (Webuild Group). The project is worth a total €91 million and foresees enlarging and managing for four years the wastewater treatment plant of Vicenza. The actual contract of the project commissioned by Viacqua S.p.A., the water service managing company of the province of Vicenza, is expected to be signed in the forthcoming days. The work will serve approximately 300 thousand citizens of Vicenza and nearby towns and is therefore greatly significant for the territory. This also confirms the Group’s strategic role in providing innovative solutions with a strong outlook on environmental sustainability when meeting Italy’s water challenges.
The project foresees the executive design, the ordnances clearance operations, and reorganizing and rationalizing the sewage and wastewater system relating to the waters in the Vicenza area. It will be built by Fisia Italimpianti, which will lead with a 69.8% share the consortium with ICM, Integra and STA.
The consortium is also responsible for the management and ordinary and extraordinary maintenance activities relating to the plant for the first 4 years starting from when the plant is first commissioned. The project will be completed in 5 years, creating approximately 300 new jobs (directly and indirectly). It therefore represents a growth opportunity that brings greater value to the local supply chain and, in general, to the territory too.
The Webuild Group has been a global leader in the water infrastructure sector for over a decade already. In fact, 25% of its total revenue, on a cumulated basis, as of December 31, 2023, comes from the clean hydro energy and clean water sectors. In fact, sustainable design and the construction of water treatment and desalination plants are sectors where the Group is greatly expanding. Fisia Italimpianti, with experience gained from more than 95 years in the business, is among the most competitive global contractors in the industry, with wastewater treatment plants installed and under construction for more than 10.9 million people worldwide, and with the desalination plants built serving more than 20 million people a day, particularly in the Middle East.
