July 9, 2020, Boston, MA – The IDRA is pleased to present in collaboration with the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) of Saudi Arabia a webinar on “Innovation in Desalination Brine Mining”, July 29 at 8:30 AM EST. This webinar is held under the patronage of the SWCC Governor Abdullah Al-Abdul Kareem and organized with the Desalination Technology Research Institute (DTRI) .

This webinar will discuss the state-of-the-art in the recovery of valuable resources from desalination brines and the drive toward zero-liquid discharge.  Speakers will discuss several leading-edge technologies, including:  high-purity sodium chloride production for chlor-alkali processes; high pressure reverse osmosis systems; novel membranes operable up to 120 bar; magnesium recovery, and other developments that will soon come to market.

Chaired by IDRA and the Director General of DTRI, Dr. Ahmed Al-Amoudi and will include research experts from the DTRI and other research centers and organizations, who are engaged in the development of innovative technology for advanced brine concentration and zero liquid discharge.  The webinar comes as a prelude to the SWCC-DTRI international workshop to be held in Jubail during the first quarter of 2021, with the participation of the SWCC Governor and practitioners, scholars and scientists from around the world of which IDRA is a Strategic Partner. Innovation in Desalination Brine Mining

July 29, 2020

8:30 am to 10:30 am Eastern US Standard Time

Topic & Objectives: Brine from desalination plants contains valuable minerals and ocean brine mining has the potential to surpass earth mining as a source of rare-earth metals such as lithium, strontium, cesium, rubidium and barium.  Ocean mining brings a new era and perspective of exploration of the vast water resources of the planet.  This webinar will discuss the state-of-the-art in the recovery of valuable resources from desalination brines and the drive toward zero-liquid discharge.  Speakers will discuss several leading-edge technologies, including:  high-purity sodium chloride production for chlor-alkali processes; high pressure reverse osmosis systems; novel membranes operable up to 200 bar; magnesium recovery, and other developments that will soon come to market.
