IDRA World Congress 2026 Site Selection Process Opens

The International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) welcomes formal bids to host the 2026 IDRA World Congress on Desalination and Water Reuse Solutions to be submitted until to December 20th, 2023. For over four decades, the IDRA World Congress has played a unique and critical role in fostering innovation, technical development, and business exchange among stakeholders focused on water sustainability. In addition to an industry-wide exhibition, a four-day peer-reviewed technical program with parallel tracks, and dynamic networking sessions, the World Congress includes a Leaders’ Summit, Innovation Hackathons, Datathons, training programs, roundtable sessions, and much more. The Leaders Summit gathers high-profile executives from various sectors, including finance, legal, project development, public and private utilities, and technical solution providers, to discuss our offsetting current and looming water scarcity. The IDRA World Congress experience takes stakeholder exchange to unprecedented heights. Held every two years, the Congress is widely regarded as a premier event for the global desalination and water reuse community and is attended by delegates from over 60 countries.

IDRA designates five regions in this process: Europe, Latin America/the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa, North America, and Asia Pacific. Destination considerations are based on various criteria outlined in the bid package.  Support from local agencies, public sector leaders, and the local private sector is highly valued. After the IDRA Site Selection Committee’s official review and scoring process, a site inspection is conducted of the top three bid locations. The selection process is concluded with a recommendation to the IDRA Board for final selection in April/May 2024.

The selected bidder of the 2026 World Congress will join an impressive roster of past World Congress hosts worldwide.
