IDE Technologies, a leading global provider of large-scale seawater desalination plants, announced plans to design and build an expansion of the Hato Water Facility in partnership with Water and Energy Company Bonaire (WEB), increasing the facility’s water production by 30% to serve more than 20,000 local residents. The expansion project is expected to be complete in the second quarter of 2024 and produce 9,600 m3 of clean, high-quality water once operational.
The Hato Water Facility incorporates IDE’s leading reverse osmosis desalination technology, producing clean water from standard seawater without the use of chemicals – a significant environmental breakthrough in the industry. This expansion project is the second resulting from IDE’s strong partnership with WEB Bonaire, following the WEB Bonaire first class, turnkey desalination plant constructed in 2021.
“The expansion to Hato’s water facility marks a key milestone in our shared efforts to provide clean drinking water to the local population while supporting the growing needs of the tourism industry on the island of Bonaire,” said Dr. Efrat Miller, VP, Water Treatment and Business Development, IDE Technologies. “We are thrilled to work alongside innovative partners with a common goal to leverage IDE technology to preserve and reuse one of our planet’s most valuable resources.”
