- The company begins construction of a 5.8 MWp solar plant and maintenance work on the port facilities
Lantania undertakes new projects for the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) for a combined value of 23.6 million euros. The infrastructure, water and energy Group has started the construction of a 5.8 MWp solar plant in the Valencian port, in addition to the conservation work of the port facilities in Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía.
The company will carry out, in a joint venture with Tecmo Instalaciones, Obras y Servicios, the construction, start-up and maintenance for three years of a photovoltaic installation in the vehicle warehouse of Valencia Terminal Europa on the East Quay of the port. To do this, Lantania will build a metal canopy that will cover some 35,500 m2 of the roof of the vehicle silo. The company has already signed the reconsideration act, thereby officially starting the project, which amounts to 16 million euros and has a completion period of 19 months.
The solar plant will occupy an area of 27,700 square meters, the equivalent of four football fields, in the new canopy on the roof of the vehicle terminal operated by the shipping company Grimaldi. Lantania will install 10,773 photovoltaic modules, in addition to four transformers in two transformation centres with two 1,250 kVA units and another two of 1,600 kVA.
The new plant will be the largest of the two photovoltaic installations that the Port of Valencia currently has under development. It will generate 9,000 MWh/year, which represents around 11% of the port’s total electricity consumption. The facility will prevent the emission of some 9,584 tons of CO2 during its 25-year lifespan.
The project, which is part of Valenciaport’s ambitious decarbonisation strategy, is financed by the Next Generation funds of the European Union and the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain.
Conservation of civil works for Valenciaport
The Port Authority of Valencia has awarded Lantania, in a joint venture with Vareser, the maintenance and repair of port works, infrastructures and facilities within its area of competence for an amount of 7.6 million euros. The expected duration of the contract is three years and may be extended for two more. Since last February, the company has been in charge of preventive and corrective conservation work in the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía.
Lantania will carry out works in service galleries, the railway network, water drainage infrastructures, pavements, sidewalks, enclosures and floating marshes. The buildings, sheds or warehouses are also the object of the contract, as well as any other activity inherent to civil works or architecture. The development of the contract will be carried out with specialised teams to execute each of the specific activities.
