Nomination Period Opens for IDRA 2022 Industry and Sustainability Awards

Thursday, June 2nd, 2022 – Boston, MA. IDRA is delighted to announce that, at this year’s World Congress Dinner in Sydney Wednesday, October 12, 2022, we will be honoring the efforts of selected companies, organizations, and even cities with exciting awards. The nomination period for these awards is now open. Those who challenge themselves to innovate and meet the increasing demands for municipal and industrial water needs will be acknowledged for their exceptional contributions to the Desalination and Water Reuse sectors. These expanded awards better reflect the diversity of contributions present in the water industry. From municipalities to corporations, these IDRA award categories can recognize the varied ways in which the global community is tackling water scarcity to ensure a future in which clean water and sanitation are universal.

The Awards are open to IDRA members and non-members. However, nominations must come from an IDRA member and be submitted to awards@idadesal.org before August 15, 2022, with the following information.

  1. The name and contact information of the nominee/organization
  2. The Award category
  3. How the nominee exemplifies the spirit of the Award (500 word minimum with references).

Below is the list of awards for the Desalination and Water Reuse Sector:

Industry Awards

  1. Best Public-Private Partnership – The company exemplifies collaboration with a public utility.
  2. Most Innovative Utility A national or local utility that brings innovation to secure clean and fresh water for their consumers.
  3. Best Private Company (Global)– The company makes an overall contribution to water sustainability using non-conventional water resources in its region.
  4. Most Innovative Company – The company that executed the project we all wish we had thought of and employed a breakthrough technology enhancing the desalination process.
  5. The Most Progressive Disruptive Policy in Water Reuse – The project is moving the needle in the public sector to support and grow water reuse implementation.
  6. Best Performing Company in Water Reuse– The company has exemplified efficiency, best-in-class technology, and operations to earn the highest quality plant performance.

Sustainability Awards

  1. The Most Resilient City – The city has created infrastructures and best practices for a community that can thrive and adapts to climate change and water scarcity.
  2. Most Innovative Water-Energy Nexus Project– The project that bridges the gap and capitalizes on the synergies between its community’s water and energy needs.
  3. Best Implementor of UN Sustainability Development Goal 6 Water for All (SDG6) – The company that ensured availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
  4. Best Corporate Social Responsibility Project – The company that utilized desalination or water reuse technology to improve the lives of a community by creating a regenerative water economy.
