- Osmoflo and CERAFILTEC Germany GmbH Announce Partnership Agreement to Expand Incorporation of Advanced Ceramic Membrane Solutions for Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems.
Burton, South Australia and Saarbrücken, Germany – Osmoflo Water Management and CERAFILTEC Germany GmbH are pleased to announce their partnership agreement. This collaboration will leverage CERAFILTEC’s expertise as a technology provider of high-performance ceramic membrane solutions and Osmoflo’s innovative, sustainable water and wastewater management capabilities to enhance systems and provide superior treatment solutions.
The non-exclusive agreement will allow Osmoflo to further incorporate CERAFILTEC’s advanced ceramic products into its water treatment processes and systems, across Australia and New Zealand. Osmoflo will work with end-users and integrators alike to quantify the benefits of the technology and actively promote and specify the CERAFILTEC technology in new build water, wastewater and desalination projects, as well as deliver direct replacements and retrofits for existing polymeric membrane installations. The collaborative focus will centre around upgrades with ceramic membranes for Membrane BioReactors (MBRs) and drinking water plants, as well as the treatment of tertiary water for reuse.
With this partnership, Osmoflo can provide customers with a state-of-the-art alternative to the conventional polymeric membranes which come with limitations of lifespan, maintenance issues and clear environmental concerns.
The value proposition of CERAFILTEC’s ceramic membranes includes the ability to increase plant capacities at reduced energy consumption (which is increasingly important as water infrastructure is decarbonised), in addition to the inherently robust and flexible operating conditions that ceramic materials allow. Recent investments in manufacturing capacity, and economies of scale driven by the significant global uptake of the technology, means that ceramic systems offer increasingly competitive capital costs, which when combined with the clear operating benefits – make them an appealing choice for operators, end-users and system integrators.
Most importantly, the sustainability impact of this technology, which offers great longevity, reusability, and a responsible PVDF- and PFAS-free solution, aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 6: “Clean water and sanitation for all”, a mission shared by both, Osmoflo and CERAFILTEC.
Osmoflo’s General Manager of Strategic Growth, Scott Chalmers was quoted on the collaboration, “We look forward to providing drinking water plant upgrades, effluent recycling options and industrial water treatment solutions to our customers and clients using CERAFILTEC’s advanced ceramic membranes.”
“We look forward to working closely with Osmoflo to drive greater customer value in a market that values sustainable and reliable solutions,” commented CERAFILTEC’s Chief Growth Officer, Julius Gloeckner. “Ceramic membranes are recognized for their robustness and reliability, setting a new industry standard. Their advanced technology, with exceptional chemical resistance, offers significant operating flexibility. High tolerance to TSS, oil, and temperature provides treatment options even for challenging feed waters, while a long lifespan ensures superior total cost of ownership for plant owners and operators.”
With over 25 years of experience in ceramic filtration, the CERAFILTEC team has a long history of providing innovative solutions to its partners and customers, much like Osmoflo. Today, it is a leading global supplier of advanced ceramic membranes, offering technology and services to sustainably solve the most challenging water-related problems.
Since the inception of Osmoflo as a designer and fabricator of medical equipment in 1991, the organisation has always seen the enormous potential for membrane-based water treatment, evolving into the largest Australian-headquartered global desalination and water recycling company with a vision of a sustainable water future.
Both Osmoflo and CERAFILTEC are committed to this collaboration, which represents a significant step in innovation and technology. Together, they aim to fulfil their shared mission of providing sustainable, value-based water solutions that contribute to a circular economy.
