Pani to optimize regional sea water desalination facility to ensure production uptime, extend equipment life, and increase overall water production.
Pani, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that provides digital operational twin technology to the water processing sector, is announcing a new contract with SAWACO Water Desalination, the flagship of The Saudi Brothers Commercial Group (SBCG) water business. In this agreement, SAWACO will launch Pani’s intelligent decision support platform at the South Jeddah Corniche Desalination Plant (SOJECO) in Saudi Arabia.
As a leader of desalination in the Kingdom, SAWACO owns and operates several water production facilities with over 250,000 m³/day (62.5 MGD) desalination capacity. SOJECO, a seawater desalination plant, is the third water production facility established by SAWACO in the region that supplies 16,500 m³/day (4.3 MGD) of potable grade water to Jeddah Industrial Cities 2 &3 , factories, hospitals, and private housing complexes. The introduction of the Pani platform will address optimizing the facility’s sea water reverse osmosis (SWRO) operations, reducing downtime, increasing production, and extending equipment life.
“We’re excited at the opportunity to be working with such a respected organization as SAWACO on the implementation of Pani at the SOJECO facility. When we developed this platform, we designed it with desalination as a core use case in mind, and now we have the opportunity to help SAWACO not only improve daily operations, but also really make an impact to establish better desalination practices and a more sustainable, resilient water supply for the region.” -Devesh Bharadwaj, CEO at Pani.
Jeddah Industrial City Phase II is one of the major projects of the Kingdom, with an area of eight million square meters, and is located 35 kilometers south of Jeddah. The SOJECO plant is a key supplier to the area as it produces “tailor-made” water to over 200+ factories developed there in recent years.
“Working with Pani is a business scaling strategy for SAWACO. We’ve always been at the forefront of technical innovation since many years when it comes to water production. Pani’s solution offers the competitive advantage and business scalability thru incorporating artificial intelligence to the daily operations. This will help us overcoming several production challenges, an increase in production through improved recovery, in addition to reducing energy consumption and extending membrane lifetime.” – Nizar Kammourie, CEO of SAWACO.
The project to implement Pani at the SOJECO plant will commence operations in Q4 2022.
