SUEZ signs cooperation agreements with the Uzbek authorities, strengthening the ties between the Group and the country
  • SUEZ announces the signing of three cooperation agreements with the Uzbek authorities to extend its support for the modernization of the water sector. This signing takes place on the occasion of French President Macron’s visit to Samarkand and in the presence of the Uzbek President Mirziyoyev.

Uzbekistan has the largest population of Central Asia and is experiencing tremendous economic growth. The country also faces environmental challenges such as water scarcity and significant needs to modernize basic infrastructures. SUEZ, a leading player in circular solutions in water management, was selected in November 2022, during President Mirziyoyev’s visit to Paris, as strategic partner of the Uzbek authorities to address these fundamental issues.

In addition to the co-management contract recently implemented for the transformation of water and sanitation in the capital Tashkent, three new agreements related to the regions of Uzbekistan were signed today:

The Public Private Partnership project in the Surkhandarya province aimed at improving the access to water in the Surkhandarya region, by increasing the connection rate for residents, improving the water quality, and reducing water losses.

The Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Aral Culture Summit. SUEZ will provide scientific support to the Uzbek Art and Culture Development Foundation for the creation and launch of a regular event on the environment in Karakalpakstan, a region impacted by the drying up of the Aral Sea.

“The Agreement to provide access to water and sanitation in rural schools in the Bukhara region. This project with the non-profit organization Zamin International Public Foundation, Uzsuvtaminot and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education will enable the construction of drinking water supply and sewerage systems for several secondary schools” Sabrina-Soussan-Chief-Executive-Officer.
