The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) continues its efforts to enhance coordination among operators within the water sector in the Kingdom and improve the reliability of its services. This is achieved by ensuring the sustainability of supplies through the implementation of the “Water Transportation Code” and the “Water Distribution Code” in its operations, aimed at guaranteeing the safety and sustainability of water supply.
The “Water Transportation Code” focuses on setting standards and procedures that ensure the safety and efficiency of water transportation between various stakeholders. Meanwhile, the “Water Distribution Code” regulates the distribution processes to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of supply across networks.
Through these codes, the SWA aims to define the responsibilities and duties of all activity operators, establishing frameworks for interaction and cooperation between producers, distributors, and consumers. This ensures the safe, optimal, and efficient use of resources.
The SWA continues to develop the water sector in line with its primary roles, which include aligning with national strategies, supporting the localization of the water sector, enhancing local content, promoting quality of life, fostering research and innovation in water solutions, and strengthening supply chain projects and services. The Authority is also responsible for issuing licenses, permits, and operational guidelines related to the sector’s operators and assets.
