Va Tech Wabag, one of the leading pure play water technology companies worldwide, announced it had won a contract worth approximately Rs 420 crore to design, build and operate (DBO) a water treatment plant in Maharashtra’s Raigad district, reports The Times of India.
The contract was awarded by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. (CIDCO), the apex urban planning body of the Government of Maharashtra.
The water treatment plant will have a capacity of 270 million litres per day (MLD) and the project includes the design, engineering, supply, construction, installation and commissioning of the water treatment plant, as well as a clear water pumping station.
The duration of the contract will be of 42 months from the start date of the project, followed by the operation and maintenance (O&M) for 15 years.
The project, when completed, will cater to the future water demand in the Navi Mumbai region of Maharashtra. Water from the Hetwane dam will be treated at the water treatment plant to be built by WABAG and then pumped to the existing Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) at Vihal to distribute the water further.
